Where is Dartmouth College?

Dartmouth’s main campus is in Hanover, in western New Hampshire near the Vermont border. The marker on Ivy Maps uses an approximate location near Dartmouth Green. For an actual campus visit, use Dartmouth’s official campus map to find buildings, parking and visitor destinations.

On the regional map, Dartmouth lies northeast of Union College in Schenectady, New York, and southeast of Middlebury College in Vermont. These are campus locations, not road routes or travel-time estimates.

Is Dartmouth in the Ivy League?

Yes. Dartmouth is one of the eight Ivy League institutions, alongside Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Penn, Princeton and Yale. Dartmouth belongs to the Ivy League; the separate Little Ivy grouping is informal.

Why is Dartmouth red on the map?

Red highlights the normal three-course load. Dartmouth’s academic catalog describes a normal three-course term and permits a fourth course in specified circumstances. The red marker highlights the usual undergraduate pattern, not an absolute limit for every student.

How does the Dartmouth D-Plan work?

Dartmouth uses a quarter-based academic calendar. Its D-Plan allows students to arrange enrollment and time away across terms, subject to the college’s requirements. Dartmouth’s admissions explanation describes terms of roughly ten weeks and a typical load of three classes. Students should consult current college rules when planning an individual schedule.

Dartmouth and Union: three courses, different calendars

Both schools are red on Ivy Maps. Dartmouth uses quarters; Union College in New York uses trimesters. Union’s advising guidance calls for three full-credit courses per trimester and also describes fourth-course arrangements. A similar course count does not mean the schools have identical calendars or workloads.
